Farm-to-Table Eateries on the Cape

These Farm-to-Table Dinners Bring the Tables to the Farm

By Linda Humphrey

Just about everyone knows that the Chatham Bars Inn is a dream of a hotel. This fabled seaside resort known as CBI is teeming with luxuries, the latest of which involves digging into heirloom tomato bruschetta and bramble berries on a farm —and you won’t have to stay at the resort to join in.

With a touch of CBI glamour, the eight-acre farm serves weekly alfresco dinners from June to November, with fall dinners moving into the heated greenhouse. The evenings begin with welcome cocktails in the fields followed by four-course spreads under strings of lights. (Chefs add locally-sourced seafood and meats along with just-picked fare.)

You can also pick up your own produce and flowers at the seasonal farm stand. It’s worth a visit just to marvel at the 125 varieties of produce and flowers in pristine rows—all planted and harvested by hand.

Dinners are $150-$200 per person, including welcome cocktail, red or white wine, tax and gratuity. For more information, call the CBI Dining Concierge at 508-945-6732.
